College Game Night

Just in case you didn't know, this is THE time of the year to watch college football! Well, tonight, in addition to the Fiesta bowl which features the Ohio State Buckeyes vs. t.u. Longhorns (hissssssss), there is also on TV here, a rare match-up of Texas A&M and the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux (in basketball). Michael came home and called all the boys together to issue the directive for the evening....go put on a game jersey. We have t-shirts for the Aggies (of course!), the Sioux (thanks to the Hagens) and Ohio State (thanks to the Richardsons). No Longhorns jerseys (thanks, Gin-gin!!). I took a picture with Michael's camera phone (since ours is still broken...you know when you drop it on the floor, it just doesn't seem to bounce back and work well! Go figure!), so the quality is not great, but you get the point. (** Note: I'm still waiting on the email that contains the picture. I'll put the picture in when Michael is able to get his phone to send it.) We couldn't find our OSU shirts on short notice, so it's Aggies and Sioux only.

Michael also passed on another directive....and I quote, "I'M IN CONTROL OF THE REMOTE TONIGHT! You'll have to trust me....just watch the master.(Yep, he used that exact phrase the master !)You WON'T miss any part of either game, but I repeat I'M IN CONTROL OF THE REMOTE!" The goofy thing is that there have been times the boys have seemed almost nervous about that. Their voices almost tremble "Dad, pleeeease we're going to miss the basketball game!" or "Can you pleeeease put it back on the football game???!!!" Hmmmmm, can you say "Control isssues!" Don't know where they get that! Must be the Dagerath genes!

So, the chips and cheese dip has been passed out and eaten. In Michael's mind, you can't watch any kind of sport (especially a college sport) without a liquid (preferably spicy) cheese product served on some type of crunchy something-and NOT a carrot! Of course, he's popped the top of a D.P. while the boys wiped the drool off their chins (They're in the middle of a 1 year long soft drink fast.). Josiah's running the length of our living room/dining room throwing a ball up and down catching it and shooting it up in the air. It's what he does during a game. Michael's also coaching the boys while watching the game. It's TIVOed (which is how he can watch both games at the same time) so he stops it and talks the boys through different things that he sees the teams do well.

I think I'll go in the back room and turn on Lifetime Movie Channel or Hallmark Channel and see if there's something a little less testosterone charged available for this evening....or maybe just hang with my boys. Yep, that's what I'll do. It's not really about the game is it, not to me.

Sounds like fun. I must admit, we were cheering for the Longhorns here. You know, Mike has a "cheer on the Big 12" thing so we had to! I thought the other day when we were watching some bowl game, "Man I am craving chips and cheese dip!" Somehow it's just not the same without it. I'm proud of the boys if they didn't delve into the DP under the circumstances!

You're my kind of woman--make the snack for the boys, then head off to the Hallmark channel.

See you tomorrow.

Well!! Gin-Gin did not know "Anything UT" was allowed in the D-household...except herself.

Items will begin showing up to create a stealth UT aura. I'm sure shirts would be charred in the fire pit. By the way, have you found a little memento I left at Christmas??? Hmmm??!!

Mike, thanks for your support!!

We're just glad we made a "respectable" showing against the mighty Aggies! Can't believe the game was blocked here :( See you very, very soon!!

That sounds exactly like our household during all of college football season. We were cheering on the Buckeyes...remembering my original roots. Mark couldn't get the b-ball game here, so he went between internet b-ball and tv. Tonight's the big one and I have to attend a meeting...Mark and Noah are on their own.
We call Lifetime...Wifetime! My favorite!
