Flu of swine...don't be mine!

Can you believe all the hoopla over swine flu?? San Antonio has closed three entire school districts because of some students and teachers who have gotten the flu. Granted, I'm pretty non-reactionary in situations like this, but it sure seems like the swine flu has just become this year's disease of choice...like SARS, Bird Flu, Mad Cow, West Nile, etc. But I'm sure there is something to it...I mean who wants the flu, regardless of whether it came from a pig, a bird, or the Nile??

I came across this blog post by one of my favorite authors of natural things, Shonda Parker, that addressed (very well in my opinion) practical and natural steps you can do to keep the swine flu (and any other flu or germy gross thing) as far as possible from your family. You can read it here...and even though it's a little long, I think it's definitely worth reading.

The short version:
1. Stay at home as much as possible.
2. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated. It's harder for the germies to find a place to live in a well hydrated body.
3. Take elderberry and echinacea to boost your immune system. The truth is a strong immune system can just fight off alot more than someone who is immunocompromised (one of my favorite BIG words! Thanks for teaching it to me, Michael! :-))
4. Wash your hands and your money, especially after being in public.

I would add taking oscillococcinum (a homeopathic remedy that's pretty easy to get your hands on. I think Walgreens has it.) at the first sign of a flu. I've seen this knock out a flu time and time again in our family.

I pray all you and your (and me and mine!) will be safe and healthy this spring!!

That was a great article, I agree. I am going to get out the sambucol and water bottles for everyone for sure! And read and believe Psalm 91, too!
