The reno continues....it's amateur hour!

So, we've just come home from CA,  we were having our bathroom professionally remodeled, Michael, Josiah and Jonathan were in Mexico on a mission trip,  Jeffrey's in Portland with Jeremy, what's a gal to do? That's an easy one. Have mom and dad come over and let's do some remodeling ourselves. 😊 And because my mom and dad love me so much, and because they kinda like to do these things too, they said yes! I really do love my mom and dad...and not just because they come and help me do these things. I love that they are who they are. They love me, they do come and help me, and they come with such a sweet, fun attitude and willing spirit!

So bring on amateur hour! Michael had asked  Jesus (our contractor) to look at the grout around our kitchen sink because it was getting mildewy and nasty (and has been that way for a while). So despite my hints to Michael that we could just get quartz counter tops and skip the grout and tile route all together, Jesus told us just how "easy" it would be to replace the grout and clean the tile.

Of course, that's NOT why mom and dad had come over. They came over to help me refinish the cabinets in our bathroom to match the rest of the lovely remodel. But we thought, "Well, Jesus said it was easy, and we'll have some time while the stain and paint is drying in the bathroom, let's just add this on!" So we prepped the kitchen....

See the black line of mildew nastiness on the grout? That's what we were going after!
Here's dad scraping out old grout to prep for the cleaner and the new grout....

And then on to the REAL job at hand...refinishing the cabinets. We used a product that was new to us that DIDN'T involve sanding and priming the old doors. That was the big selling feature for me here! The process was really pretty simple, it just took a long time. There were times when we kinda felt like we were literally watching paint dry....

But, truthfully, we were glad for the downtime in between coats. I'm thankful for these troopers! I really, really, really, wouldn't have wanted to do this project on my own! Even with three of us, it took all weekend. Stay tuned for the results...
This was our motto! Gotta love this bucket from Home Depot! Just makes you want to DIY till you drop!! And we did....😊
